1. Use the K to 12 Basic Education Curriculum Guide.
2. Read the description and time allotment of each learning domain for Kinder or subject for grades 1 to 12
3. Read and understand the following: A. Content B. Content Standard C. Performance Standard D. Learning Competencies E. Learning Code
4. Take one specific learning objective under learning competencies. Make implicit explicit. Be sure the learning competencies should be followed sequentially and not randomly
5. Analyze the learning objective/competency. Focus on skill (verb) followed by the content (topic)
6. Follow the the acronym "SMART"
7. Always have a drill and review for mastery of the lesson learned.
8. The presentation, discussion and activities (practice and evaluation) should be congruent/aligned with the learning objectives/learning competencies.
9. Follow the time allotment: e.g. Mathematics 10 minutes: Drill and review 30 minutes: Motivation, presentation, discussion and generalization 10 minutes: Practice and evaluation
10. Follow these rules when discussion and activities are being done. - from specific to general - from easy to difficult - from visual to mental
11. Follow the 5 basic skills in teaching any subject. - Listening- when you discuss the concept and the students listen to it. - Speaking - when you ask question and the students answer it. - Reading - when you let the students read the generalization/concept answered by them. - Writing - when you let your students copy or write the concept of your lesson. - Viewing - When you let the students visualize (with picture) the concept of your lessons.
